I was deep in sleep and my wife woke me and told me why not go for a long drive. So got freshened up, decided to leave towards Kanakpura road. After a few kilometres my wife asked for a drive, so i gave the car to her, she was looking a bit rusty as she had not driven for quite a while. She was driving fine on kanakpura road but i asked her for drive. I was really getting scared actually.. 🙂 After driving for few minutes on kanakpura road we saw Mekedatu was just 54 kilometer. We both decided why not go there. So we headed towards mekedatu with half tank in the car, and warnings from my wife that the roads are so bad.. Well it was nice but not the best, until the last stretch. The road leading to mekedatu was bad. We entered and saw Arkavathi nadi flowing in full flow and in bright red colour. We could not cross the river to reach the spot, forget the crossing we could not even play in the water. Disappointed we headed back home.. It was 2 in the afternoon when we came back, so headed directly to ICE CAFE and got ourself paronthas and ice cream…
What a sunday its been, a nice drive, Govinda’s Hasina Maan jayegi, and Manchester United winning the derby match (4-3) with owen scoring in the last minute.. Wow.. Tomorrow’s ramzan and i have a long day of work.. 😦
Its been an eventful year after marriage. So me and navya decided to take a break and enjoy few days silently and in peace. I was going thru few holiday resorts near Bangalore and it finally got down to 2 places. Masinagudi and Yerkad. Both were within 300 km range and we could drive our self. Finally we got our reservations done on Masinagudi..
8th August : 6.30 – We left our house to Masinagudi, thinking it would have less traffic on Mysore road. But mysore road traffic never beats the heat. On route stopped @ lokaruchi for breakfast.. Had yummy neeru dose, kotte idli and very nice tea.. The road ahead was full of fun and non stop laughter. Cant forget the song ” KEMPU ROJADA MUKADAVALE.. kENDA SAMPIGE sIRIAVALA..”.. After a few hours of drive thought to myself about taking a break and enjoy the sunflower gardens (naturally planted.. not like the ones in lalbagh :)) .. Took few snaps and continued our way towards Bandipur.. Well i was hoping of more of a forest area on route but it turned out to be plantation till the border of Bandipur forest area.. We entered the bandipur forest range around 12 in the afternoon expecting to see atleast a deer or a monkey.. But not even a dog was @ site. Well all animals must have taken a nice nap :)..
Entering Tamil Nadu we saw all Jelabis written on the boards and black faced monkeys scratching their backs and sitting in middle of the roads.. One thing written in english was ” No Photography, No Picnic, No Feeding animals” all along the roads which i thought was sensible.. But why no Photography.. Later learnt from our hotel owner that taking snaps is a punishable offence. 😦
After a short break we decided to go on a ride and look around.. On route was lucky enuff to see some wild elephants, few peacocks and one just crossed us in front. Took few snaps and came back to hotel. We got ourself a basketball and played for few minutes. Never thought to myself that my 1st shot would go inside.. 🙂
We both got up early and went on a hike inside jungle with a guide. Though did not find any wild animals but found few deer’s. After a long hike we decided to take rest till evening. In the evening we started towards ooty. It had 36 hair pin bends and my first time in ghats in a car. After few nervous turns i got used to it. With 6 hairpins to go, it started to rain and it started becoming dark, Chey wat a bad luck and we both decided not to take any risk but to head back hotel and go to OOTy the next day. Headed back to hotel got ourself comfy in front of a campfire.
Early morning we decide to leave, checked out the resort, and headed our way to ooty. It was a nice ride till the top. In ooty decided to have breakfast in a nice hotel. Though navya was intending some hotel but we got another one. There Dosa with 4 different types of chutneys were served. It tasted so good after 2 days of horrible food. 🙂
Went around OOTy a bit and then decided to head back home. It was surely gonna be a long drive back home. Around 300km atleast. It was a nice drive with speeds constantly hovering around 100kmph till i reached Mandya. The traffic started from there. We just breaked only once for lunch and it was a non stop driving. Finally reached home 6:45. Took a nice shower and started too edit the photos.. Will upload it once i have it in picassa.
Just moved all my contents from blogspot to here. Hope i continue blogging.. 🙂
Christmas was coming and a long weekend for IT guys.. Guess all the hotspots in and around bangalore was overbooked and overpriced.. Staying at home for 4 days and not doing anything.. Naa.. we decided to visit Mangalore.. Navya’s friend Sudhir was from Mangalore and he got the hotel booked for us and he decided to travel with us. We boarded to mysore around 8.15 and that bus went a round about to reach Mangalore, Instead of reaching there by 7 we had it delayed to 10. reached TAJ hotel, though not the as majestic as TAJ but a decent one. We checked in had a nice breakfast, and Sudhir was in our hotel at 11 to show around Mangalore. Even though it was december the temperature was burning at 30 to 36 degrees.
Visited few temples. Next stop was sudhir’s sweet home where his mom had prepared delicous manglore specials. There were so many varieties and i could not taste all.. (sry dude)
After a heavy lunch we headed towards Tannirbhavi.
took a ferry ride to reach the shore of beach. It was exciting as for the 1st time i saw a jelly fish / squid. dont know what it was.
Seing beach, you did not have to invite navya to jump in 1st, she was there before i could remove my shoes.. Played till sunset, watched sun dive into ocean and then moved back to hotel. On our way back we Mr Nayak told he will give us a ice cream treat. Me and navya had 2 huge ice creams and it was the best i have had till now.. Yummm..
2nd day we hired a cab and headed towards kudermukh, there was greenery, dry lands and beautiful lakes. wow. you have not visited be there 1st. you dont have any idea on what you are missing.
3rd day me and navya headed towards udupi on a local private bus which drives as though he is the master of road. Overtaking on wrong way, braking as though its a F1 car. within no time we had reached udupi.. Stood in the long queue to visit Lord Krishna. though off late it has become more commercial i personally like the temple and the idol. Came back to mangalore packed our bags and before leaving mangalore went again to have those yumm ice creams.. (Sorry Mr Nayak forgot the ice cream shop name)
10th October 2008, after a 2 days of planning which never went the way we planned, me, my wife along with lokesh started the bike ride at 6.30 in the morning (planned 6) to Mysore around 180 kms from my home. Navya woke me up at 5:30 in the morning all excited about the bike trip and yup we were ready by 6. Called loki and asked are you ready and the reply was – “Give me 15 minutes i just got UP!!!”. 6:30 started the ride towards mysore and surprisingly the MYSORE Road was empty.. (Dumbo what do you expect on a Friday morning?? ) We drove for about half an hour and we had crossed bidadi,. Breakfast !! i shouted to loki and we stopped.. deciding not eat oil that day chomped on few idlis and off.
After driving for about 1 and half hours at a speed of 90 – 100 we reached srirangapatna.. Took a deviation towards ranganathittu.
After clicking few more pics we started off our journey towards Balmuri falls.. Surprise Surprise the place where we expected a lot of people had very few. Guess today was a lucky day and we headed towards Mysore Palace. Whew what a hot day it was.. Finally after reaching the palace, i almost fainted seing the queue in Mysore Palace, decided to skip it and head towards Chamundi betta.. Guess our luck had ran out in Balmuri falls,, more people everywhere. Again decided not to stand in that long queue, went around the temple and then started back down the mini HILL i would say. (Expect to be a ghat.. u will be disappointed..)
After reaching the bottom, off we reached shilpa home, Her dad is a very good craftsmen.. I was dumbstuck seing his art. Definetly will buy atleast one piece from him once i have a home of my own. It was around 5 that we decided to leave Mysore and reach bangalore by 8 atleast.. Hmm having reached srirangapatna navya asked me can we go to SANGAMA.. Sure why not was the reply.. the sunset was mesmarizing.
At around 6 i guess we started our way back to bangalore thinking we will reach home before 9 and sleep peacefully..
Remember the BADLUcK!! it stuck again.. Reaching Mandya heavens opened and it started raining like crazy.. We had to stand in a petrol bunk untill the rain stopped. Finally it stopped and the time on my watch said 8:15. Hmm thought to myself its gonna be a long drive back home..
Started driving cautiously at speeds max of 80 with cars zipping besides us we reached Ramnagaram at 9:45 we decided to have nice dinner atleast. Stopped at KAMATH. After a nice dinner started the last sprint towards bangalore and loki was speeding like crazy. Could not keep the pace with him.. Reached our home around 11. Said bye to Loki, walked towards the room with hand on our back.. Wow wat a day.. around 500 km, non stop driving, hot sun, heavy rain, navya beside me, it was dream day.
Loki bhai.. can we have one more trip like this, maybe we can pull more ppl..
23-11-2008 .. yeah it was a lazy sunday. got up around 10 and was still feeling lazy but pulled myself off the bed. I saw my wife had prepared a nice breakfast, hmm delicious i said to myself and ate it.. Sitting on the bean bag and thinking on how to spend the entire day, suddenly navya said how about kanva dam, which is around 25km from our home. yeah i said right away and we were off to the place. Never got to ride more than 80kmph as navya was sitting back. After a nice stretch in mysore road took a deviation on right to start a horrible road.
Reached the place and surprisingly such a lovely place and no one is there. We both and a few workers working on the dam. It was heavenly to be there alone and sit there and admire the nature..
Seing water as usualy my wife was on a flash to step in water. She just loves to play in water. After a few snaps taken thought of walking across the dam.
After walking for few minutes it started to drizzle and my stomach grungling, so decided to head back to home. On our way back decided to stop at Kamat hotel, had nice lunch and headed back home. Total km driven – exactly 49.8 km.
Its been more than a week now and i was daily cycling my way to office.. But there was something missing.. The distance travelled, the speed @ which i was going.. All i was doing was just monitor my time.. Guess i dont wait too much and i dont want to be in void for a longer time.. Got myself a wireless odometer.. dB4LW.. Its got total distance covered, trip meter, average speed, max speed, time and kmph.. Well this is what i was looking for.. Installation was quite easy as it just few stips to mount and a sensor to attach. After few tries and few adjustments to the sensors the odometer started.. Today was the real test of my odometer.. Started my morning early and hit my usual uttarahalli road.. The speed shown was encouraging me to go faster.. Well in one of the slopes i touched 42 kmph..
Total distance – 8.52 km ( Home to Office)
Average Speed – 19kmph (:o))
Was happily seing all the reading and then i kept my cell near it.. To my surprise the device started running and messed up my data.. 😦 Got to know that i should keep away from any electronic and magentic devices.. YuK!!! I need to safegaurd this to keep my data safe.. What a headache..
