Got up early @ 5:30 so that we can leave early and avoid traffic on kengeri. We left our house @ 7 and was lucky enuf to avoid major traffic near kengeri.. Within an hour we had reached Kamat lokaruchi hotel near ramnagar and we decided to have a good breakfast. My wife and myself ordered the same menu – Idli and neeru dose.. After that we started heading towards Mysore, i had a feeling that my car was pulling towards left, i felt like a puncher on my left front wheel. We stopped and i was able to see a screw on my left wheel but the air on the wheel looked normal. So we decided to stop @ the next puncher repair shop and get it fixed but the guy told sir tubeless tires i wont be able to do it Go to Maddur and check it and Maddur was 16 km. We decided to go slowly with speeds of just touching 60. We reached Maddur and stopped @ the 1st shop, he removed the wheel and the screw. It was a very small one and had not pierced the tyre. It was stuck in the groove. No puncher sir he said and verified the tyre pressure and we headed towards our destination. The mysore road was surprisingly empty and i was speeding @ 100 constantly. We knew that we had to reach KR Nagar and on just entering Mysore we saw a sign turn right for KR Nagar. That was the outer ring road of mysore. The road till KRNagar was too good i would say. Nice smooth 4 lane roads and quite empty too. 🙂 On reaching KR Nagar we enquired the route to chunchanakatte and an elderly person sitting on a katte (Stone near roadside) guided as saying go straight 14 kilometers and take right about turn. 🙂 “Right about Turn” what he meant was you will get a circle on reaching chunchunakatte take a u-turn and towards left is ur destination.. We reached there around 11. 1st we decided to go to the Rama temple on the banks of the waterfall. The temple is totally soundproof and its said to be calm when the nearby falls is roaring. For history check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chunchanakatte_Falls. The falls was not in full roar and we reached the top of the falls. It was quite empty and we decided to get our feet wet. Then we headed downstream and found a nice place where 2 other families were having fun. We started playing in water got totally wet. The rocks below were quite slippery so we decided not to go further. After few cliques,we were getting dried or sunbathing to get tanned (or black) :). The other families were having nice lunch. Seeing them we both got hungry 😦 and we had kept all our foods in the car. Had to wait till we get dried. We munched up few bread slices and chips and headed towards Bangalore. Stopped @ Mandya for lunch and we were back in home by 6.
- Route : Uttarahalli → Kengeri → Ramnagar → Mandya → Mysore Outer Ring Road (turn right) → Head towards KR Nagar → Chunchanakatte (Right about turn)
- Total trip distance – 378.5 km
- Top Speed – 140 kmph
- Mode of transport – Swift
- Excellent roads all the way except for few patchy ones while reaching Chunchanakatte.
Will try and post few photos once i get some time and provide the links.
Removed my cast 3 days back and my hand was a bit stiff, that did not slow me down to start a trip. It was more than 5 weeks since we had gone anywhere or freak out.. 10/01/10 :Slow start to a trip @ 9. 1st was to have some breakfast, destination ICE Café. My wife ordered one MD and i had a vada and Karabath.. After that we started towards shravanabelagola and with tank full and i had no intention of stopping anywhere on way. Our route was to go thru kengeri – Nice road – kanakpura road – hasan route. I just wanted to reach 100kmph and was eagerly waiting for the nice road. Once on it, i clocked 100 consistently thinking that i might not get another chance again with max of 130.. Guess i was wrong. Kanakpura road was as usual busy, but not much of a traffic. Once i reached hasan junction took a left and saw that the road was under construction. Shey.. wat a bad luck.. After few kilometers i found out that the road on one side was done properly, so we had to wobble around, but the road was quite empty and smooth. I could easily touch 100 and we were in kunigal before 12. I was hungry and told navya why not we stop here fr lunch. We stopped near the bus stand and there was a green building called RamyaShree hotel. We went in and ordered our lunch.. The bill came and when i went to the cash counter to pay the bill, there was a cute girl sitting in the chair and accepting cash. Bill was 43 and i paid 100. After 5 minutes of calculations in her calculator she returned me 43.. I just laughed @ her and told the exact amount to pay back.. After the lunch we started towards shravanabelagola. We reached there about 2 and sun out. We thought the rock would be hot and was thinking how would be climb up without any footwear. Our climbed started and the rock was not so hot. After 100 steps of climbing we took a break and saw back, it was like just few meters we have climbed. After 300 steps we took rest and cliqued few snaps. Trying out different modes with my sweetie smiling and her face fully red.. 🙂 After 630 steps we lost the count and we were giving out our best looks for the photo shots. Reaching the top, i saw the 57 feet monolithic statue of the Bhagavan Gomateshwara Bahubali. The statue is amazing unlike many other tall statue the aspect ratio and the carvings are so perfect. Well you should see to believe it. We just sat there for half an hour and stared at the statue. We started our journey back and was also thinking how the kanakpura road be. We hit the road @ 5pm and it was not so much crowded.. Our good luck stayed with us all thru our journey. Reached home @ 6:40 and total kilometers covered that day – 311.5
The trip meter is still running to check my mileage. Guess i should not consider this.. I was constantly in the high 80s all the trip.. 🙂
Where to head next.. Any ideas??
I have been clicking from past year and half in my canon s5is and i think i am improving as the time has moved on. Well till now its been more of trial and error. I had no interest to read the manuals or any big posts to understand what the camera is doing. Basically till now 80% of my shots were taken in auto mode and i did not understand what the camera had selected to get a nice shot.
Well now its time for a change and after going thru Digital Camera Modes article in digital-photography-school.com i have realized its not just an auto mode to clique. Its a start for starters like me to know more.
I have started to try out other modes and play around. When will you start??
I was stumbling on the photos and found this very unusual link..In Cherrapunji, there is actually a living bridge which is been made up of roots of trees.Looks really scary.. Dont belive it have a look @ http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/5q37ma/AEXPJ3268A.
The time has come to look back at the last 3 years. What i have gained –> Knowledge, Respect, Self Confidence and lots more.. What have i lost –>Money.. The timing was just about right to jump the ship and try out a new venture. Have i taken the right step?? Well I don’t know. Only time will tell. Will update this @ the end of year. Hope i am heading in the right direction.
